The Pakistan Army has accused the Afghan Taliban of facilitating terrorist infiltrations into the country, heightening tensions along the border. Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, head of the army's media wing, asserted during a briefing that Afghan forces fired on Pakistani border posts to aid illegal crossings.
Chaudhry dismissed claims of Pakistani airstrikes in Afghanistan and reiterated the country's stance on terrorism, emphasizing no distinction between good and bad Taliban. He highlighted the military's extensive operations, citing 67,023 intelligence-based operations conducted since January, resulting in 206 terrorist deaths.
Tensions persist as Pakistan accuses the Afghan Taliban of harboring terrorist elements. Chaudhry called for more effective provincial action against smuggling and illegal vehicles, stressing the need for cooperation to counter the terror-crime nexus plaguing the region.
