The Lok Sabha floor saw a bustling Friday as numerous private member's bills, touching various societal issues, were introduced. These endeavors range from conferring rights upon employees to disconnect from work communications beyond office hours, to providing menstrual benefits for women employees.
Among the bills was the 'Right to Disconnect Bill, 2025', presented by NCP MP Supriya Sule, aiming to create an employees' welfare authority. It seeks to empower employees to avoid work-related calls and emails after work hours, providing a legal shield.
In addition, issues such as NEET exemptions for Tamil Nadu and the abolition of the death penalty were also highlighted. Such bills often stimulate debate, although many are withdrawn after government responses.
