In a recent announcement, the Indian government disclosed that 3,155 Indian nationals have been deported from the United States as of November 21, 2025. This data was shared by the Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, during a parliamentary session.
The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that deportations are contingent upon a clear verification process of the individuals' Indian citizenship. Discussions in Parliament also addressed concerns about illegal immigration via the 'donkey route', a term denoting unauthorized cross-border entry into North America.
Simultaneously, India's foreign policy strategy focuses on boosting its global footprint. New diplomatic posts have been established in Ecuador, the United States, and Russia, with aims to deepen strategic partnerships and enhance representation abroad.
