Amidst serious allegations of rape and forced abortion, expelled Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil has been granted interim protection from arrest by the Kerala High Court. This decision comes as the court prepares to hear his anticipatory bail plea on December 15.
Mamkootathil finds himself embroiled in two distinct cases. While a sessions court in Thiruvananthapuram rejected his plea for anticipatory bail regarding the first case, a second allegation emerged from a Bengaluru resident, leading to further legal scrutiny.
The accused MLA, currently evading arrest, insists on his innocence. According to his plea, the relationship with the first complainant was consensual until it soured. Mamkootathil has expressed readiness to cooperate with the investigation, armed with documents he claims will prove his version of events.
