VHP Protests Karnataka Amendment: A Threat to Cattle Protection?
The VHP demands the withdrawal of a proposed amendment to the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020, accusing the state government of weakening the law. Concerns focus on easier vehicle release for alleged illegal cattle transport, potentially increasing offences and cruelty.

The VHP has urgently called on the Karnataka government to rescind a planned amendment to the Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020. The Hindu nationalist group argues that the changes would dilute the law, which they claim has been effective in curbing illegal cattle transport.
Protests are slated for December 8, marking disapproval of a Cabinet proposal to replace the requirement of a bank guarantee with an indemnity bond for releasing vehicles detained under suspicion of illegal cattle transport.
According to VHP leader Sunil K R, this move would embolden offenders and lead to increased cruelty against cattle. The organization maintains that strict enforcement has reduced cattle-related offences substantially and opposes any rollback of these achievements.
