Supreme Court judge, Justice Rajesh Bindal, has stressed the crucial role of robust arbitral institutions in addressing disputes within India's rapidly expanding infrastructure sector. He made these remarks at the 5th Biennial International Conference on Construction Law and Arbitration organized by the Society of Construction Law.
Justice Bindal highlighted the specialized nature of construction law and the resultant rise in disputes due to increased infrastructure activity. He advocated for institutional arbitration to combat issues like inflated costs and delayed proceedings, encouraging early-stage resolution to avoid project stalls.
Attorney General R Venkataramani urged for dedicated legislation, while Delhi High Court's Justice Tejas Karia and Lalit Bhasin from the Society of Indian Law Firms echoed the need for specialized, data-driven, and technological frameworks to transform India's arbitration system into a globally trusted hub.
