Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal addressed the annual convocation of Amity University, Noida, congratulating nearly 29,000 graduating students—including online and on-campus learners—and praising the university for fostering talent, merit, and innovation. He said no contribution is greater for a university than to nurture young minds and provide a platform that respects their potential and aspirations.

Celebrating Talent, Merit and Innovation

Shri Goyal lauded Amity University’s commitment to need-blind admissions, enabled through extensive scholarship programs. He highlighted the institution’s diversity, noting that half the student population comprises young women, exemplifying India’s progress toward gender-balanced education.

He praised the 450+ patents filed by students and the presence of 50 Ramalingam Swami Fellows among the faculty—professionals who returned to India to advance research and nation-building.

Invoking Ambedkar’s Vision on Mahaparinirvan Diwas

Remembering Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on Mahaparinirvan Diwas, the Minister reaffirmed India’s foundational values of equality, social justice, harmony, and equal opportunities. He underscored that education remains central to uplifting historically disadvantaged communities and urged students to uphold their responsibilities toward society.

Graduates as Pillars of Viksit Bharat 2047

Calling the graduating batch an integral part of India’s trajectory towards becoming a developed nation by 2047, Shri Goyal said the next 25 years mark a defining era for India—an era shaped by the youth’s ambition, innovation and sense of duty.

He urged students to push boundaries, think creatively, and elevate their fields of expertise, stating that their achievements will determine India’s future economic and social progress.

Encouraging Youth Participation in Public Life

Shri Goyal referenced the Prime Minister’s call from the Red Fort urging one lakh youth to consider politics and public life as a vocational choice. He emphasised that politics needs individuals with integrity and commitment to national welfare.

He suggested that universities, including Amity, encourage students to explore governance through internships with elected representatives, strengthening their understanding of public service.

“Good Inputs Create Good Output” — The Need for Ethical Leaders

Drawing from an early computer science lesson, he said:

“Garbage in, garbage out. Indian politics needs more good people and strong leaders.”

He expressed confidence that if more ethical, driven young people enter public life, India’s rise to global leadership would be faster than ever imagined.

The Five Prans: India’s Roadmap from 2022 to 2047

Shri Goyal revisited the Prime Minister’s five guiding principles (Panch Pran) announced during the 75th Independence Day address:

  1. Resolve for a Developed India – urging graduates to stretch the limits of innovation and excellence.

  2. Freedom from Colonial Mindset – encouraging the rejection of outdated beliefs and urging universities to adopt Indian attire in convocations to reflect cultural pride.

  3. Pride in Heritage – reminding students that India’s ancient knowledge systems, values, and diversity strengthen modern growth.

  4. Unity in Diversity – a call to collaborate beyond comfort zones and build bridges in an interconnected society.

  5. Spirit of Duty – emphasising service to family, community and nation as a moral responsibility.

He said that if all 140 crore Indians embrace these principles, India’s transformation from a $4 trillion to $35 trillion economy and from $2,500 to $20,000 per capita income would become a reality.

Honouring Teachers and Parents

Shri Goyal acknowledged the immense contribution of teachers and parents who have shaped the graduates’ journeys. He encouraged students to stay connected with their alma mater and express gratitude to their mentors.

A Confident Start to a New Chapter

As students step into their professional lives, the Minister reminded them that challenges and setbacks are natural, but the values and education imparted by Amity University have equipped them with resilience, courage and purpose. He urged the graduates to contribute meaningfully to nation-building, helping shape India’s ascent as a global superpower in this Amrit Kaal.
