In a blistering critique of the Punjab Police, the state's BJP chief Sunil Jakhar on Sunday described the force as 'gangsters in uniform', accusing them of colluding with the AAP government. Jakhar claimed certain officers were engaged in undemocratic tasks, including extortion activities favoring the state leadership.
The BJP leader lambasted the Bhagwant Mann administration for the state's deteriorating law and order situation, citing extortion threats and escalating violence as indicators of the crisis. Jakhar referenced AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal's ultimatum to gangsters, alleging a lack of enforcement has emboldened criminal activities across Punjab.
Highlighting various incidents, such as the murder of an RSS leader's son and increased violent attacks, Jakhar juxtaposed Punjab's numerous police top brass with Haryana's singular DGP, questioning the effectiveness of Punjab's law enforcement. He called for a united political and media front to address these issues, urging an impartial investigation into claims of AAP-police collusion.
