In a significant move to enhance data privacy, the Indian government will soon introduce a new rule to discourage entities like hotels and event organizers from keeping physical copies of Aadhaar cards. This initiative, as revealed by a senior official, aligns with the country's current Aadhaar Act.
CEO of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Bhuvnesh Kumar, informed PTI about an innovative technology that will transform Aadhaar-based verification. This new system mandates the registration of hotels and event organizers, granting them access to verify identities without paper usage, thus boosting data security.
Introducing a beta-tested app, UIDAI aims to solve issues linked to the downtime of intermediate servers. The app facilitates seamless app-to-app Aadhaar verification without continuously relying on central database connectivity, further embodying the essence of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act and ensuring holistic data protection.
