The Delhi High Court has put an end to a legal dispute involving a school official who faced charges under the Wildlife (Protection) Act. The court dismissed the case linked to the discovery of mongoose hair brushes in a school in 2013.

Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, presiding over the petition, noted that the complaint failed to establish clear evidence of Deepesh Gupta's involvement with the prohibited items. Advocates argued that the school obtained the brushes before the mongoose was declared a protected species in 2002.

Recognizing the absence of documentation proving Gupta's responsibility for the brushes, the court concluded there were no grounds for holding him accountable. Consequently, the court quashed both the legal complaint and the FIR against Gupta.
