In a watershed moment in the fight against Naxalism, ten hardcore Naxalites surrendered in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district, each carrying a collective bounty of Rs 2.36 crore. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav declared the districts of Dindori and Mandla entirely free from Naxal influence.
The surrendered Naxalites, including four women, handed over modern weapons like AK-47 and INSAS rifles. They were part of the 'Bhorsadev area committee' of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist). Yadav announced the launch of a full-scale Naxal eradication campaign in Balaghat from January.
During the 'Punarvas Se Purnajeevan' event, Yadav emphasized the government's commitment to rehabilitation for those abandoning violence. The administration promised a rehabilitation package lasting 15 years, with firm action against those who continue the armed struggle.
