Maharashtra has experienced a significant rise in cybercrime, with more than 3,500 cases lodged between January and August. This alarming statistic was revealed in a state legislative assembly session, where Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis responded to inquiries from NCP MLA Dharamraobaba Atram.

In response to the escalating threat, action has been taken resulting in the arrest of 12 individuals allegedly linked to organized cybercrime operations. Notably, 169 bank accounts associated with these frauds have been frozen following the discovery of digital evidence confirming misuse of banking data.

The government is implementing a comprehensive cybersecurity project, highlighted by the establishment of a cutting-edge cyber command center in Navi Mumbai. This new initiative aims to enhance state-level monitoring and preventive strategies to address the region's growing online crime issues.
