The Bombay High Court has raised critical questions about the integrity of the police investigation concerning a controversial land deal in Pune. The focus is on the surprising omission of Parth Pawar, the son of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, from the FIR despite his significant involvement in the transaction.
Justice Madhav Jamdar of the High Court pointedly questioned the prosecution during a hearing of the pre-arrest bail plea filed by businesswoman Sheetal Tejwani, an accused in the case. Parth Pawar, a key partner in Amadea Enterprises LLP, was not named in the FIR related to the purchase of a government-owned plot in Pune's upscale Mundhwa area, valued at Rs 300 crore.
Public Prosecutor Mankunwar Deshmukh assured the court that the police would follow the legal framework for the investigation. Meanwhile, allegations have surfaced that the land, categorized as 'mahar watan,' cannot be sold without state government approval. Amid political backlash, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has stated that his son was unaware of the land's status and that the transaction has been annulled.
