A Sydney taekwondo instructor has been sentenced to life in prison for the brutal murders of a 7-year-old student and the boy's parents, with no possibility of parole. Kwang Kyung Yoo was driven by jealousy over the family's financial success.
During the sentencing, Justice Ian Harrison described the crimes as egregious, stating they required a life sentence for community protection and deterrence. Yoo had shown remorse post-arrest but failed to explain his motive for the murders.
The former instructor's criminal activities included strangling the child and his mother at his martial arts academy before stabbing the father. Yoo was arrested after presenting a fabricated story to hospital staff about being attacked.
