Supreme Court Quashes Land Corruption FIR Against R Ashoka

The Supreme Court has dismissed an FIR filed by the Karnataka Anti-Corruption Bureau against R Ashoka, former deputy chief minister and BJP legislator, in a case concerning alleged corruption in land allotments.
A bench of Justices Sanjay Karol and Vipul M Pancholi indicated that the FIR suggested a deliberate attempt to undermine Ashoka's integrity as a public official, suspecting political motives behind the move.
The court highlighted that the proceedings lacked the essential sanction from the state government, rendering any investigative actions taken by the ACB legally invalid, thus overturning a Karnataka High Court decision that had previously dismissed Ashoka's plea to void the FIR.
