On Thursday, the Goa assembly passed a significant Bill aimed at expediting the process for land-use conversion applications, reducing the time frame from 60 to 45 days.
Tabled by Revenue Minister Atanasio Monserrate, the Goa Land Revenue Code (Amendment) Bill 2026 amends Section 32 of the 1968 code. This move is designed to simplify administrative tasks, promote the ease of doing business, and ensure rapid decision-making while maintaining legal safeguards.
The Bill was passed by a voice vote after some opposition. As part of a broader deregulation framework, this legislation does not carry financial implications or require delegated legislation, and it repeals the 2025 ordinance by the governor, ensuring all actions under the ordinance are retained.
