United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres issued a stark warning to world leaders on Thursday, vehemently criticizing nations flouting international law and highlighting the detrimental impact of the wealth power concentration among the richest 1%. He described this as "morally indefensible."
Addressing the UN General Assembly at the outset of his final year in office, Guterres underscored the geopolitical divides, violations of international laws, and drastic reductions in development aid confronting the 193 member countries. These issues, he contended, would undermine global cooperation at a critical juncture.
In a strongly worded address, Guterres specifically took aim at nations like Russia and the US for their actions that he believes breach the UN Charter, strongly advocating for adherence to international rules. He warned against setting precarious precedents that could further undermine the global order.
