Italy-South Korea Forge New Ties in AI and Minerals Cooperation

In a pivotal meeting on Monday, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni agreed to bolster cooperation across critical sectors, including artificial intelligence, aerospace, and critical minerals. The Blue House confirmed this development following their summit in Seoul.
As a leader in semiconductors, South Korea's alliance with Italy, one of its major European trading partners, marks a significant step forward. The nations signed a memorandum of understanding to advance chip industry collaboration, highlighting AI applications, emphasized by Seoul's presidential Blue House statement.
The bilateral talks also focused on establishing resilient supply chains for critical minerals, expanding cultural exchanges, and joint research endeavors. The leaders reiterated their commitment to Korean Peninsula denuclearization, with Meloni suggesting the possibility of Lee visiting Italy later this year.
