The Punjab government has embarked on 'Operation Prahar', a major offensive aimed at dismantling organized crime networks across the state. The initiative involves over 2,000 police teams in a massive crackdown on gang-associated locations. The operation targets the entire infrastructure supporting organized crime, including foreign-based gangsters.

Director General of Punjab Police Gaurav Yadav asserted a zero-tolerance policy against crime facilitators, emphasizing the commitment to extraditing fugitive gangsters. An Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell has been established to accelerate these efforts. The public has been urged to provide information via an Anti-Gangster Helpline, with substantial rewards for useful leads.

The crackdown reflects broader efforts under Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, as the state seeks to eliminate gang networks akin to its success with anti-drug campaigns. The government has declared a comprehensive strategy, aiming for a gangster-free Punjab through rigorous law enforcement and public collaboration.
