Twelve individuals have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a known history-sheeter, Syed Shabbir, this month in the city, according to police statements made on Tuesday.
Shabbir, a 30-year-old man from Koramangala's jurisdiction, was killed on January 12 near Mangammanapalya Main Road, close to a Bandepalya police station petrol bunk, officials reported. The assailants intercepted Shabbir's autorickshaw, threw chilli powder in his eyes, and fatally attacked him.
A senior officer indicated that Shabbir, who was the son of a retired Karnataka State Reserve Police officer, controlled local settlements and extortion operations, leading to rivalries. The murder was a retaliatory act coordinated by the arrested gang. Law enforcement has seized the crime's weapons and vehicles, continuing their investigation.
