Nepal's Election Commission has formalized a partnership with social media giant TikTok to foster a clean digital environment for the forthcoming general election. The agreement was signed in Kathmandu by EC Joint-Secretary Narayan Prasad Bhattarai and TikTok's Head of Public Policy Ferdous Al Mottakin, with acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari in attendance.
Bhandari highlighted the significance of this collaboration, emphasizing efforts to prevent potential technology misuse during the March 5 election. The agreement marks a crucial step in reducing violations of the election code of conduct and quelling the spread of misinformation, he stated.
He expressed gratitude to TikTok for its committed support in curbing potential abuses on its platform during the election period, reinforcing the integrity of the electoral process.
