China has stepped up its presence in the South China Sea with extensive naval and air patrols conducted from Monday to Friday, according to a statement from the China Southern Theater Command on Saturday.
The move comes amid tensions with the Philippines, which China accuses of collaborating with outside nations to conduct bilateral air patrols, destabilizing peace and stability in the region.
The Southern Theater Command's forces are maintaining high alert to protect China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights, while the Philippine embassy in Beijing has yet to provide a response to these developments.
