A key hearing surrounding the searing dispute over the Bhojshala Temple-Kamal Maula Mosque complex will be spearheaded by the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Five related cases, currently pending, have been shifted to the principal bench in Jabalpur for a comprehensive review.
The contention centers around historical claims by Hindus, who view the complex as a sacred temple for Goddess Saraswati, and the Muslim community, which recognizes it as the Kamal Maula Mosque. The site is under the protection of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), with an order allowing Hindus and Muslims to worship on specific days.
The Supreme Court has intervened, ensuring the disputes are resolved following the unsealing of a critical ASI report. The SC had emphasized maintaining the status quo, adhering to existing guidelines, as the high court processes the objections to the report.
