A 14-year-old girl from Sikkim orchestrated her own kidnapping, demanding a Rs 3 lakh ransom from her parents. The police reported on Wednesday that she was found in Siliguri, West Bengal, after a thorough search operation.
The girl's parents filed an FIR after she failed to return home from school in Gangtok on March 13. They received a call from an unknown number demanding a ransom, with threats to her life if the sum wasn't paid.
Following a police investigation, the girl was discovered near the Sikkim Nationalised Transport bus terminus in Siliguri, wandering alone. Evidence suggests she crafted the kidnapping scenario, sending ransom messages and voice notes herself. The investigation remains ongoing.
