Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh was warmly welcomed as he embarked on a pivotal three-day visit to Jiribam district. The trip holds substantial significance, as it involves traversing the NH-37 route, which has been largely avoided due to ongoing ethnic tensions between the Meitei and Kuki communities.
Accompanied by state BJP president A Sharda Devi, eight MLAs, and senior officials, this visit is part of efforts to mend communal fractures and address local concerns. The delegation's arrival marks a critical moment as Singh aims to foster dialogue and understanding among the region's diverse communities.
During his stay, the Chief Minister plans to meet with internally displaced persons and hold discussions with leaders of the Meitei, Kuki, and Hmar communities. The visit is a response to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's call for expedited peace efforts in the conflict-affected area.
