Opposition Stands United Against Delimitation Bills
The Congress and opposition parties allege the government's proposed bills for women's quota are a guise for politically motivated delimitation changes. Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Jairam Ramesh, vow to fight these bills, stressing true women's reservation should align with democratic principles and demand equitable power-sharing as intended in 2023.

The Congress party has raised concerns over three bills proposed by the government, labeling them as deceptively introduced under the guise of implementing women's reservation law. Party leaders claim that the true intent revolves around dubious delimitation changes benefiting certain states, thereby threatening democratic balance.
Ahead of Parliament proceedings, opposition leaders, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, voiced their dissent, promising a unified stand against perceived manipulations. Kharge emphasized the need to reject the bills in their current form, which he described as 'mischievous' and damaging to democratic values.
As the government listed these bills for discussion, the opposition met to strategize against them. They argue that the bills compromise intended women's reservation, underscoring that genuine efforts should reserve one-third seats for women across varied demographics, in accordance with 2023 principles.
