A recent caste survey conducted by the Congress government in Telangana reveals significant inequalities in access to basic infrastructure. Over 13% of households lack toilet facilities, compromising health and hygiene, particularly for women and girls.
The report, covering the period 2024-25, highlights that nearly six per cent of homes are without electricity, an essential modern living standard. Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes face the greatest disparities, with 11% and 8.3% lacking electricity, respectively.
The SEEEPC survey, dubbed the 'caste census,' records the socio-economic conditions of 35 million residents in Telangana. Findings emphasize the vast chasm in living standards among various castes, offering a comprehensive view of the state's social challenges.
