Assam Strikes Back: Crackdown on Infiltrators

Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the apprehension and expulsion of 20 foreign nationals back to Bangladesh, reinforcing the state's strong stance against infiltration. The border districts share 267.5 km of the international boundary with Bangladesh, and the Assam Police, along with BSF, is working to prevent illegal entry.

In a strong move against illegal infiltration, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the recent expulsion of 20 foreign nationals back to Bangladesh. The individuals, allegedly Bangladeshis, were apprehended and subsequently returned, as the state continues its zero-tolerance policy on illegal entries.

Sarma emphasized the importance of strict action, stating, “Rude people don't understand soft language.” He reiterated the state's commitment to eject unwanted elements and maintain territorial integrity. Despite not revealing the specifics of the apprehensions, Sarma assured that Assam would continue its pushbacks.

Assam, with its 267.5 km border with Bangladesh, has integrated checkpoints in strategic locations like Sutarkandi. These measures are part of a broader effort, involving Assam Police and BSF, to bolster security and manage cross-border activities amid regional instability.
