In a significant initiative against child marriage, the Women and Child Development department, along with the District Child Protection Unit, police, and local administration, have managed to prevent 11 child marriages in Nanded district since April 19, following Akshaya Tritiya.

The cases were halted after complaints were made through Childline 1098, a national emergency helpline dedicated to child protection. Among the 11 interventions, three each occurred in Nanded and Loha, two in Naigaon, and one in Degloor, Bhokar, and Mukhed.

District Collector Rahul Kardile urged the public to report any child marriage cases by calling 1098. This effort underscores the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, which sets the legal minimum marriage age at 21 for males and 18 for females.
