U.S. Approves $8.6 Billion Military Sales to Middle East Allies
The U.S. State Department announced the approval of military sales worth over $8.6 billion to Israel, Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE. These sales include Patriot systems and Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems, with key contractors being BAE Systems, RTX, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman.
The United States is strengthening its ties with Middle Eastern allies through military sales worth over $8.6 billion. Announced by the State Department on Friday, these sales involve significant defense purchases by Israel, Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE. They mark an important move amid ongoing regional conflicts.
Qatar's package includes Patriot air and missile defense systems costing $4.01 billion and Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems (APKWS) valued at $992.4 million. At the same time, Kuwait will acquire an integrated battle command system for $2.5 billion, and Israel secured APKWS sales for $992.4 million.
The principal contractor for the APKWS to Qatar, Israel, and the UAE is BAE Systems. Meanwhile, RTX and Lockheed Martin will manage parts of the Qatari and Kuwaiti deals, with Northrop Grumman also playing a critical role in the latter. Such collaborations underline the robust defense partnerships being formed in the region.
