In a significant bust, the Madhya Pradesh unit of the Central Narcotics Bureau (CBN) seized more than 3,000 kilograms of poppy husk, cleverly camouflaged as potato chips, in Ratlam district. The seizure occurred when officials discovered an abandoned truck near a 'dhaba' on the Jaora-Ratlam Road.
According to officials, despite extensive surveillance, no one approached the vehicle, prompting the special CBN team to conduct a search. The vehicle, registered in Punjab, contained about 3,160 kilograms of poppy husk hidden beneath 150 sacks of potato chips.
The discovery comes amid dramatic revelations that a gang had looted the drug-laden truck near the Dewas-Ujjain toll plaza. The seized narcotics were intended for local distribution. Authorities have filed charges under the NDPS Act, and investigations continue to track down the culprits and source of contraband.
