Maharashtra Overhauls Staffing Rules: 18 New Cadres Introduced

The Maharashtra government has introduced significant staffing reforms by creating 18 new cadres and modifying recruitment rules for 553 existing ones. In a bid to streamline its staffing procedures, the Maharashtra government has initiated extensive reforms by establishing 18 new cadres and altering recruitment norms for 553 existing cadres.

The decision, announced in a government resolution issued by the General Administration Department, was approved at a cabinet meeting on April 14. This overhaul is designed to enhance transparency and efficiency, making recruitment processes more time-bound and streamlined.

Key changes include the elimination of oral interviews for Group B and C posts, shifting to standard evaluation methods instead. The reforms target delays and inconsistencies in the previous system, emphasizing integrated recruitment frameworks to ease candidate burden and bolster administrative effectiveness.
