India Marks Anniversary of Operation Sindoor Amid Tensions with Pakistan

India reaffirmed its right to self-defense against Pakistani-supported terrorism on the anniversary of Operation Sindoor, which saw airstrikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan. The Ministry of External Affairs stressed India's commitment to fighting global terrorism and highlighted tensions following the Pahalgam attack that escalated into mutual military responses.

India has reiterated its stance on the right to self-defense against terrorism backed by Pakistan, especially as it commemorates the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor. This operation was in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, revealing Pakistan's ongoing tactic of cross-border terrorism.

Operation Sindoor involved airstrikes that targeted nine terrorist strongholds in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, resulting in the elimination of around 100 terrorists. New Delhi's firm resolve was communicated by External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, emphasizing the nation's continued dedication to strengthening the global fight against terrorism.

The operation marked a significant escalation in tensions between the two countries, with both sides engaging in military exchanges. However, the hostilities were curtailed following high-level military talks, resulting in a ceasefire agreement on May 10.
