West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced a sweeping array of administrative reforms in a landmark move to bring the state in line with the central government's initiatives. The decisions were made during the inaugural cabinet meeting of the BJP-led government in West Bengal.
Among the new directives, the state will now participate in the Centre's Ayushman Bharat health scheme, a significant development aimed at offering comprehensive health coverage to its citizens. Additionally, the government has approved land transfers to the Border Security Force (BSF) for border fencing, in line with national security objectives.
Further, the upper age limit for government job applicants has been increased to 45 years, addressing long-standing demands. These changes indicate a departure from policies under the previous government and signal a proactive approach toward governance and welfare in West Bengal.
