A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been established to investigate dowry harassment allegations against a former judge and her lawyer son in Bhopal. The inquiry follows the death of Twisha Sharma in her marital home in Katara Hills. Police officials revealed that Sharma, 33, was found hanging, and hospital authorities confirmed her death on arrival.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajnish Kashyap, leading the SIT, stated efforts have been intensified to locate Samarth Singh, Sharma's husband, who is implicated along with his mother, retired judge Giribala Singh, under charges related to dowry death and harassment. Samarth and his mother allegedly took Sharma to the hospital late on Tuesday night.
Sharma's Noida-based family accuses her in-laws of murder, citing ongoing phone contact with her till an hour before the incident. The SIT includes a woman officer, reflecting a comprehensive approach towards examining allegations of dowry, physical abuse, and potential evidence tampering following Sharma's demise. The judicial process is ongoing, with anticipatory bail granted to the retired judge and an upcoming hearing for Samarth Singh.
