Tragic Shooting in Pilibhit After Attempt to Break Up Dispute

In Pilibhit, a man was tragically shot dead while attempting to intervene in a conflict involving his neighbor. Despite immediate dangers, bystanders hesitated to help. The suspect remains at large as authorities intensify their search efforts.

A man in Pilibhit district lost his life while trying to mediate a violent confrontation involving his neighbor. Police reported that the 48-year-old, Pappu Gupta, was fatally shot when he attempted to assist his neighbor, Pankaj Katiyar, who was allegedly attacked by several individuals on Thursday evening.

Witnesses reportedly recorded the incident instead of helping, leaving Gupta unattended for about 15 minutes. Eventually, police facilitated his transport to a hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries en route. Authorities have mobilized multiple specialized teams to track down the perpetrators.

The dispute centered around a family conflict involving Katiyar, a bicycle trader, and his wife Sheetal, who had previously lodged a dowry complaint. The altercation erupted when Sheetal’s father and others assaulted Katiyar, leading to Gupta being caught in the crossfire.
