Investigation Launched into Missing Valuables at Padmanabhaswamy Temple

Kerala's government is set to investigate alleged security lapses and missing valuables at Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple following a contentious police report. The Kerala government is initiating an inquiry into the alleged disappearance of valuables and security issues at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple. This decision follows a controversial police report, which the temple's administrative committee has refuted, stating the so-called missing items, including a diamond ornament, are secure within the temple.

Devaswom minister Muraleedharan emphasized his administration's commitment to ensuring no interference with the temple's assets. The government has requested a report from the temple's administrative committee, although it plans to conduct its own investigation after consultations with the Home Ministry.

The allegations emerged after media reports highlighted the supposed missing 78 grams of gold bars and coins from the temple. Despite the police report, temple authorities insist that safety audits are routine and that all possessions are adequately preserved.

In response, the temple committee has demanded accountability from the Kerala government, criticizing officers for what they describe as a factually incorrect and reputation-damaging report. The committee asserts that all visitors undergo thorough checks by the Kerala Police security team.

Amidst this controversy, there's also scrutiny of an ongoing investigation into gold losses at the Sabarimala temple. While the government is dissatisfied with progress, it recognizes the High Court's authority over the Special Investigation Team handling the matter.
