Canada's Major Aid Boost: C$350 Million Defensive Package for Ukraine

In a significant move to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities, Canada has committed a C$350 million aid package aimed at acquiring air defense interceptors for Kyiv. This announcement came after a meeting between Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, amid escalating Russian missile attacks.

'As Russia escalates its barbaric aerial warfare, indiscriminately targeting civilian populations, Ukraine's air defenses are critical,' Carney stated during a press conference in Calgary. Canada, one of Ukraine's most vocal supporters, has pledged the package to protect Ukraine's people, infrastructure, and skies.

Alongside this, Canada has committed to enhancing its drone production, aiming to deliver a significant portion of these to Ukraine. Furthermore, new loan guarantees totaling nearly C$435 million will support Ukraine's energy security through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, reflecting Canada's ongoing dedication to Ukraine's resilience and sovereignty.
