Lieutenant General YK Joshi, General Officer Commanding Fire and Fury Corps, was briefed about the security situation in the Siachen sector which lies in the eastern Karakoram Range in the Himalayas. Joshi was informed about the operational preparedness which is currently being undertaken in the highly militarized sector.

He met and interacted with troops deployed on the highest battlefield in the world, in extreme weather and highly challenging terrain conditions, for maintaining the sanctity of Indian borders. Joshi also appreciated and complimented the troops for their high morale and commitment despite difficult circumstances, and urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism of the Indian Army.

India carried out air strikes on a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) camp in Balakot in Pakistan on February 26. A day later, Pakistani jets violated the Indian air space by dropping bombs in Rajouri sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
