Government to maximize the reach and access to public services

On Monday, the government will mark the beginning of the Fifth Annual Thusong Service Centre Week.

The government will this week engage members of the community on how to improve the public service as part of the Fifth Annual Thusong Service Centre Week.

Thusong Service Centres are one-stop centers for access to government services and information to potential sponsors and stakeholders across all spheres of government.

"We aim to ensure that through Integrated Mobile Outreach Services and other Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) platforms, the government will maximize the reach and access to government services, during Thusong Service Centre Week," said Communications Minister Nomvula Mokonyane.

On Monday, the government will mark the beginning of the Fifth Annual Thusong Service Centre Week.

The 2018 Annual Thusong Service Centre Week takes place in conjunction with the Public Service Month, under the theme: "Thuma Mina, Taking Public Service to the People: We Belong, We Care, We Serve".

The 2018 Thusong Centre Service week activities will be celebrated in line with the centenary of the life of former President Nelson Mandela, under the theme: "Be the Legacy".

To celebrate the life and contributions of Albertina Sisulu, Thusong Dialogues will be implemented at identified Thusong Service Centres.

The Thusong programme has been reaching about six million beneficiaries every year. During 2017, a total of 74 activities were implemented.

The closing event for the Thusong Service Centre Week will be held on 21 September in the Western Cape at the Grabouw Thusong center.
