Actor Kangana Ranaut, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat, has secured a significant victory over her rival, Congress's Vikramaditya Singh, with a margin of 74,755 votes.
Ranaut received 5,37,002 votes, surpassing Singh's 4,62,267 votes. Singh, who holds the position of the state Public Works Minister, is the son of Virbhadra Singh, a six-time chief minister, and Pratibha Singh, the current state Congress chief.
Ranaut attributed this electoral win to the common man's support and the accomplishments of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As a self-proclaimed daughter of Mandi, her campaign strongly advocated for Hindutva and praised 'Modi's magic.'
Historically, the Mandi seat has been dominated by scions of the erstwhile princely states, who have won 13 out of 19 times. The Rampur Royal family alone has claimed the seat six times.
