Haiti's New Prime Minister Gary Conille Hospitalised Amidst Political Turmoil
Gary Conille, recently selected as Haiti's Prime Minister, was hospitalised in Port-au-Prince. The exact reason for his hospitalisation remains unknown. Louis Gérald Gilles, a member of the transitional presidential council, was on his way to the hospital. Conille's selection was finalized on May 28 after a turbulent political process.
Gary Conille, Haiti's newly selected prime minister, was hospitalised late Saturday in the capital of Port-au-Prince, an official told The Associated Press.
The circumstances surrounding Conille's hospitalisation remain unclear at this time.
Louis Gérald Gilles, a member of the transitional presidential council that recently designated Conille as the leader of the troubled Caribbean nation, confirmed he was en route to the hospital but could not provide further details.
Conille's appointment as prime minister, made official on May 28, followed a convoluted selection process.
Earlier Saturday, Conille had toured Haiti's main international airport, which had only recently resumed operations after being shut down by gang violence for nearly three months.
