The Congress party has not held back in its criticism of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi. Labeling his new appointment as a 'legitimacy crisis,’ Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh accused Modi of lacking both moral and political credibility.
Ramesh revisited Modi's controversial entry into the new Parliament building on May 28th, 2023, with the Sengol, a symbolic artifact from Tamil history. Ramesh argued that Modi fabricated a historical narrative to justify his ambitions and appeal to the Tamil electorate.
This evening, despite securing 293 out of 543 seats through the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, Modi will be sworn in amid heavy criticism. Dignitaries from India's neighboring countries and the Indian Ocean Region will attend the ceremony. However, Ramesh insists that Modi has faced a significant defeat both politically and morally.
