In a notable political shift, former Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and been inducted as a Minister of State. Despite his loss in the Lok Sabha elections from Punjab's Ludhiana, Bittu took the oath at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday.
Bittu’s induction marks a significant moment as he becomes the only leader among those who recently switched parties ahead of the elections to secure a ministerial berth. His political journey is noteworthy, with Bittu previously serving as an MP from Ludhiana and Anandpur Sahib.
This move has generated mixed reactions, with Punjab Congress leaders branding Bittu's switch as 'betrayal.' Nevertheless, his entry into the council of ministers is seen as a strategic step to ensure Punjab's representation in the BJP-led government, where the party failed to win any Lok Sabha seats in the state.
