Veteran BJP leader Jual Oram, a prominent tribal leader from Odisha, has been inducted as a central minister in the Narendra Modi 3.0 government. Known for his long political career, Oram has also served as the country's first tribal affairs minister, marking numerous electoral victories in his journey.

Jual Oram, a veteran BJP leader and a prominent tribal figure from Odisha, was sworn into the Narendra Modi 3.0 government as a central minister on Sunday. The 63-year-old from Sundargarh district holds the notable title of being India’s first tribal affairs minister, a role established during former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's tenure.

With extensive political experience as both an MLA and an MP, Oram's career boasts successive wins from the Bonai assembly constituency in 1990 and 1995. He represented Sundargarh in the Lok Sabha for six terms and served three terms as president of the BJP's Odisha unit.

Despite a setback in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Oram rebounded to secure a ministerial role in 2014, defeating BJD's Dilip Tirkey. Known for his resilience, Oram emerged victorious from Sundargarh again in 2019, defeating BJD's Sunita Biswal, reflecting his enduring influence in Odisha's political landscape.
