Haiti's newly appointed Prime Minister, Garry Conille, was discharged from the hospital on Sunday after receiving treatment for an undisclosed condition. In a video posted on YouTube, Conille reassured the public that he is feeling well and prepared to lead the nation out of its ongoing security crisis.
Conille emphasized his commitment to forming a government that will prioritize crucial issues like healthcare. 'While I was in the hospital, I was thinking about our people who can't get necessary medical care due to the security challenges,' he said.
Having arrived in Haiti on June 1, Conille's appointment by a transitional council comes as the country awaits the deployment of a UN-backed police force to combat surging gang violence in the capital and beyond.
