Odisha's New BJP Government Seeks Centre's Support for Major Projects

The BJP government in Odisha has requested the Centre for expansion of Paradip port, establishment of a second AIIMS in Sambalpur, and higher allocation for infrastructure development. In a significant move, the new BJP government in Odisha has formally requested the Centre for the expansion of Paradip port, the establishment of a second AIIMS in Sambalpur, and increased allocation of funds aimed at accelerating infrastructure development in the state.

Odisha Deputy Chief Minister K V Singh Deo submitted a detailed memorandum during a meeting of state finance ministers, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi. The memorandum highlighted the necessity of higher funding under the Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SACI), specifically for the fiscal year 2024-25.

Besides infrastructure demands, the state government also pushed for the Subhadra Scheme to boost women's welfare, requested housing funds under PMAY, and sought support for green energy initiatives such as the adoption of green hydrogen technologies. The Union Finance Minister has assured to examine the presented demands.
