Former Assam Congress Leader Joins AAP

Romen Chandra Borthakur, who has had a long association with the Congress party in Assam, joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday. The move was marked by a welcome from Delhi cabinet minister Atishi.

Atishi highlighted Borthakur's political journey, especially his commitment to fighting corruption, as evidenced by his 2021 electoral contest against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Despite losing to Sarma in Jalukbari, Borthakur has remained a vocal critic of the chief minister. Earlier this year, he resigned from his primary membership in the Congress party, paving the way for this significant political shift.
