Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jagadish Shettar has called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the alleged diversion of SC/ST funds, which reportedly involves Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his wife, Parvathi Siddaramaiah. Shettar emphasized the seriousness of the matter, citing it as a significant scam and rule violation. He stated, "BJP insists that a CBI inquiry should be conducted."

National Commission for Scheduled Castes Chairman Kishor Makwana criticized the Karnataka government for allegedly misusing funds intended for the welfare of Scheduled Castes. Makwana remarked, "Karnataka Government misused the funds and diverted them elsewhere. The Commission has sent a notice demanding a response within 7 days, failing which strict action will be taken." He underscored the unconstitutionality and anti-Scheduled Caste nature of the alleged actions.

The National Commission for Scheduled Castes has demanded a detailed report from the Karnataka government concerning the SC/ST funds' diversion. The NCSC stressed that the Karnataka government must provide a comprehensive explanation to ensure the welfare of the SC/ST communities is not jeopardized.

Previously, the NCSC took suo moto cognizance of the issue regarding the diversion of Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) and Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) funds in Karnataka. Official notices revealed the Karnataka government's decision to reallocate Rs 14,730 crore, originally earmarked under SCSP and TSP, to implement various welfare schemes known as the Five Guarantees Schemes.
