In a significant political development, the INDIA bloc clinched 10 out of the 13 assembly seats in the recent by-elections conducted across seven states. The BJP managed to secure two seats, while an Independent candidate won one seat as vote counting concluded on Saturday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a substantial job creation milestone, attributing the addition of eight crore new jobs in the last three to four years to government policies and initiatives. This, he claimed, countered narratives about rising unemployment.
The Centre has enhanced the authority of the lieutenant governor in Jammu and Kashmir, allowing increased jurisdiction over critical matters like police and all-India services. This move has been met with criticism from opposition parties.
